On August 25, as Indian tech companies reduce their use of H-1B visas, they may be less vulnerable to the latest tightening of skilled visa policies by the Trump administration than before.

Nasscom, the industry body representing India's $315 billion information technology sector, said in a statement on Tuesday that over the past five years, as these companies have expanded local hiring in the U.S., the number of employees they place in the U.S. through the H-1B visa program has dropped significantly.
