Japan Finance Minister to Attend G20: Markets Eye Meeting with Bessent, Yen Intervention Statement "Still Valid"

Japanese Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato confirmed he will attend the G20 finance ministers' meeting, with markets closely watching whether he will hold another bilateral meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent. Kato reiterated that the previous joint Japan-U.S. intervention statement "remains valid," emphasizing that Japan will enhance the yen's credibility by boosting its growth potential. Additionally, Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda is also expected to attend the meeting.
