Publisher Reach, which owns UK outlets including the Mirror and the Express, has announced the elimination of 220 editorial positions, citing a significant decline in website traffic as readers increasingly shift to AI-generated summaries, according to The Guardian.

Chief Content Officer David Higgerson stated this reflects a "huge shift" in how audiences consume content. Reach data shows Google traffic fell 46% year-over-year, with digital revenue also dipping slightly to £128.9 million.

Meanwhile, the company will close three online brands—KentLive, AberdeenLive, and GalwayBeo—and add approximately 60 new editorial roles, focusing on subscription offerings and long-form video content to pursue a sustainable growth path.
