Samsung Electro-Mechanics Delays Glass Substrate Mass Production for Third Time, Earliest Production in 2028

Samsung Electro-Mechanics' glass substrate mass production plan, a joint venture with Dongwoo Fine-Chem, has been delayed once again, as the prototype failed to pass customer reliability certification. The mass production timeline has been postponed for the third time from last December, with the earliest possible start now set for 2028. Meanwhile, Japan's Shinko has showcased a 22-layer glass substrate, and DNP has launched a pilot production line targeting mass production by 2028. Samsung Electro-Mechanics' competitive window against Japanese players in the AI packaging sector continues to narrow.
