Shinhan Financial Group Partners with Visa on Stablecoin and Future Finance Initiatives

August 26 - According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's Shinhan Financial Group has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Visa to collaborate on stablecoin-related digital assets and future financial services. Shinhan Financial will leverage Visa's stablecoin platform for core functions including issuance, redemption, and payment verification, while jointly designing business models tailored to the Korean financial environment. The partnership will also explore stablecoin applications in card settlement and other financial services, AI payments, and B2B and B2C payment business expansion. Shinhan Financial Group Chairman Jin Dong-uk stated that the long-term cooperation with Visa will be extended to the entire digital finance sector, jointly designing new future financial models.
