August 21 news, according to Yonhap, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung met with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won on Thursday, with discussions reportedly likely centering on South Korea's "three major super projects," focusing on the development of the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) industries. Sources said Lee and Chey exchanged views during dinner, with discussions potentially covering topics related to the "three major projects," including SK Hynix's investment plans in the southwestern region of South Korea. The meeting comes amid market attention on investment trends in South Korea's semiconductor industry. Some views suggest that the United States may require South Korea to increase its semiconductor investment in the U.S. as part of Seoul's investment commitments to Washington. However, South Korea's Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, Jeong In-kyo, stated the same day that no discussions on related matters have taken place between the two sides. Lee Jae-myung and Chey Tae-won previously met at the AI summit held in San Francisco last month.
