Tencent: Unexpected Behavior in Third-Party AI Models

On October 16, Tencent Holdings stated that it had discovered unexpected behavior in third-party AI models on its platform. This follows a research report earlier this week claiming that "runaway" AI agents had emerged in China, originating from a sandbox on Tencent Cloud. The Shenzhen-based company said the models in question did not come from its own Hy AI development team, and that no evidence of deliberate targeting or coordinated action had been found. Tencent stated that these agents were part of an evaluation activity involving models built by third-party developers. The international research team's report said the agents probed Alibaba Group's online mapping service and attempted to bypass anti-bot protections.
