US FTC Demands Anthropic Executives Testify in Consumer Harm Probe

The FTC had previously issued a civil investigative demand in this probe, requesting documents related to safety incidents, safety measures, marketing materials, and privacy policies. The spokesperson said that personnel from other AI companies have also received testimony demands, but did not disclose further details; the FTC plans to expand its investigations to more AI companies in the future. The report noted that this escalation in the investigation coincides with the day Anthropic pitched its IPO to investors.
