Asset manager VanEck has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to withdraw its registration for a Lido staked Ethereum ETF. The filing is dated October 14, 2026, the registration statement never became effective, and no shares of the fund were sold. The product was originally intended to hold stETH, a liquid staking token issued by the Lido protocol, rather than directly staking Ethereum through designated validators. Lido's total value locked currently stands at approximately $23.6 billion, down from $33.3 billion a year earlier. BlackRock launched ETHB in March 2026, which stakes Ethereum directly through validators, with net assets of $409.8 million as of March 31.
