According to CNBC, World Liberty Financial, the Trump family-backed crypto project, said the rapid growth and real market demand for its stablecoin USD1 rebut external skepticism that the project primarily relies on political connections for development. USD1's circulating supply has now exceeded $4 billion.
World Liberty Financial CEO Zach Witkoff said USD1's growth comes from the product itself and market adoption, not special treatment from the Trump administration. USD1 was previously used in Abu Dhabi investment firm MGX's $2 billion investment deal with Binance, which remains one of USD1's most significant institutional applications to date.
World Liberty Financial recently also received preliminary conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for a national trust bank charter, with plans to directly issue and redeem USD1 through World Liberty Trust Company and manage its reserve assets. Some Democratic lawmakers in the U.S. continue to raise conflict-of-interest concerns regarding the project's ties to the Trump family.
