World Liberty Financial announced that its US dollar stablecoin USD1 has been natively issued on the Canton Network, allowing institutions to use the stablecoin to settle transactions involving tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). According to the announcement, USD1 can serve as the cash leg for transactions such as derivatives collateral, institutional lending, and asset issuance and redemption. Native issuance enables it to settle synchronously with tokenized assets in the same transaction, while retaining Canton's privacy and permission control mechanisms. According to DeFiLlama data, USD1 has a market cap of approximately $4.05 billion, making it the sixth-largest stablecoin, and is issued by BitGo Bank & Trust, which manages its reserves and minting and redemption processes. USD1 was launched in March 2025, with reserves including short-term US Treasuries, government money market funds, and US dollar deposits. World Liberty Financial is a crypto project backed by the Trump family, founded in 2024. Canton is a public blockchain designed for institutional finance, processing over $9 trillion in tokenized assets monthly, with more than $350 billion in on-chain US Treasuries flowing through its network daily. World Liberty Financial co-founder and COO Zak Folkman stated that institutions have already tokenized trillions of dollars in US Treasuries and government debt, but the dollar settlement leg still relies on outdated infrastructure. The combination of Canton and natively issued USD1 allows real-world assets to settle in US dollars with greater speed and privacy.
