Marvell Technology Inc. shares fell nearly 8% in premarket trading Friday after the company reported fiscal Q2 2027 results, with both profit and revenue slightly beating Wall Street expectations.

However, World Trade Securities founder and CEO Nicholas Mugalli urged investors to view the post-earnings selloff as a long-term opportunity, describing the quarter as an operational validation and asserting: "This is a trillion-dollar company!"

Wow! MRVL's Q2 results are an absolute operational validation of its multi-year custom chip and optical supercycle.

Total revenue reached $2.74 billion, slightly above consensus, while non-GAAP EPS came in at $0.94. Non-GAAP gross margin held steady at 58.9%, proving that even...

High Valuation Meets Margin Pressure

Marvell posted record Q2 revenue of $2.74 billion, up 37% year over year, with non-GAAP EPS of $0.94. However, the modest 1.1% beat failed to satisfy investors expecting blowout numbers after the stock surged roughly 28% over the past month.

This directly collides with recent margin pressure. Marvell management guided Q3 non-GAAP gross margin in the range of 57.5% to 58.5%, down sequentially from 58.9% in Q2.

CFO Dan Durn explained that the temporary headwind is primarily driven by product mix, as lower-margin custom chip programs ramp significantly in the second half of the year.

Management's Optimistic Outlook and Google Partnership

Despite the market's reaction to near-term margin contraction, Marvell's leadership painted a highly optimistic picture for future growth.

CEO Matt Murphy raised fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to approximately $12 billion and fiscal 2028 guidance to $18 billion, driven by data center revenue surging 46% year over year to $2.17 billion.

Murphy also highlighted an expanded commercial agreement and warrant arrangement with Alphabet Inc., covering inference accelerators, storage controllers, and related custom silicon.

Regarding the long-term scale of this deal, Murphy noted that reaching peak performance on these programs represents a "staggering" opportunity for the company, with the largest revenue impact expected in fiscal 2029 and beyond.

A Strategic Entry Point?

While short-term traders are taking profits amid margin mix concerns, market observers emphasize that Marvell's expanding footprint in custom chips, 1.6-terabit optical components, and scale-out switching positions the chipmaker for significant long-term value creation.

How Has MRVL Performed in 2026?

As of the latest data, MRVL shares are down 7.64% in Friday premarket trading. The stock is up 184.13% year to date, 222.84% over the past year, and 195.57% over the past six months. On Thursday, the stock closed down 1.49% at $241.45. According to Edge stock ratings, MRVL maintains strong price momentum across short, long, and medium-term timeframes, with a solid growth score.
