According to ZDNet Korea, Samsung Display plans to significantly increase OLED supply for Apple's foldable phones and iPads next year. The foldable OLED target rises from about 8 million units this year to 15 million units next year, while iPad OLED rises from about 2 million units this year to 9 million units next year, bringing the combined total from about 10 million units this year to approximately 24 million units. Apple is a core customer for Samsung Display's small-to-medium-sized OLED panels. Market research firm UBI Research estimates total iPhone OLED demand this year at approximately 264.7 million units, with Samsung Display supplying about 144 million units and targeting about 148 million units next year. Apple is set to launch its first foldable phone in the second half of this year, with Samsung Display planning to supply a 7.8-inch foldable OLED. iPad has adopted OLED in Pro models since 2024, expanded to mini this year, and will extend to Air next year. The report cites industry sources saying that if the foldable is priced at around $2,500, shipments could reach approximately 6 million units this year and 11 million units next year; higher pricing or supply chain issues could further reduce shipments. Samsung Display's supply targets may be adjusted based on market conditions.
